Performance
The increase in performance of their engine can only be meaningful dimensioned taking into account the propeller data (pitch, diameter). The following errors should be excluded from the outset if possible. A later correction is always possible.

* Rated speed is not reached - the cause may be a propeller with too much pitch or larger diameter. Engine power and propeller curve intersect below the rated speed.
* Exceeding the rated speed at full throttle and propeller clutch engaged by several hundred revolutions - pitch and / or surface of the propeller is too small. The engine is "underutilized." Engine power and propeller curve intersect above the rated speed.
* Ship arrives at the rated speed is not the expected speed - is the underwater hull halfway free of vegetation, this may be due to a too low pitch of the propeller. The diameter in this case is correct or possibly too large.
* Toppweg too long, poor acceleration - minimum diameter below or on the propeller cavitation (cavitation cavitation = - cavitation in liquids by spontaneous evaporation, can be largely prevented by design features of the propeller).
* Poor maneuverability, rudder effect in Astern bad trip to non-existent - due to lack of propeller cavitation area or diameter too small
